How it works
The company's name and the outcome stay hidden while you work. A short case takes a few minutes; a harder one takes longer. You can pause and come back later.

01
The case introduces the business and its market at the time of the decision. You learn what is at stake, while the company's name stays hidden.

02
Open the material you want to examine and choose from the case's extra questions. In longer cases, you can also mark information as important or less important. Those judgements count towards your result.

03
Choose how you would act. State the reasons that matter most, the risks you see and how confident you are in your decision. Your choices form the basis of your score.

04
You face an objection to your choice. Respond to it, then decide whether to stand by your decision or change it. Your response is assessed either way.

05
Review your decision before you lock it. Once it is locked, you cannot change your answer. The company's name is then revealed.

06
Compare your choice with the company's decision and what followed. You also get your result. Your score reflects how you used the information, not whether you made the same choice as the company.
Feedback on your decision
Your result reflects how you used the case material and supported your decision. The company's story gives you a point of comparison. The AI review can offer further feedback on how your choices and reasoning fit together.

Your decision profile
Your decision profile brings together the cases you have completed. As you make more decisions, you can begin to see patterns in what matters to you, how you handle risk and when you change your mind.
Who is it for?
Practise decisions with incomplete information and several plausible options. Examine what makes you choose one course of action over another.
Consider how you would act when cash runs short or the market changes. Other companies' decisions give you concrete situations to work through.
Put what you are learning to use in a real business case. Explain your choice before comparing it with the company's decision and what happened afterwards.
Ask participants to decide before revealing the outcome. Then compare the information and reasons they relied on. A shared case gives the discussion a concrete starting point.
How your decision is assessed
A carefully considered decision can turn out badly. A weak one can succeed through luck. Your score therefore reflects how you used the information when you made your choice. What happened afterwards does not affect it.
01
You see the company's name and the outcome only after you have locked your decision.
02
The cases draw on documented public events. You can see the sources after the reveal.
03
Your profile is based on the cases you complete. More decisions give you more to compare and help you see recurring patterns.

Your role
You run a national home-entertainment rental chain.
You operate thousands of stores. You are the largest business of your kind in the world, you are profitable, and your brand is the default verb people use for renting a film.
This morning, the founders of a four-year-old internet company flew in to propose that you buy them. They post discs to subscribers by mail, charge a flat monthly fee and do not charge late fees. They have a few hundred thousand subscribers, they lost more money last year than they made in revenue, and they are asking for approximately $50m.
Fifty million dollars is roughly what thirty of your stores cost to build.
Your team is split. You have to give them an answer.
